No Smoking

15.

At lunchtime Harry says he really finds it difficult to go through a whole day without smoking. He finds it almost impossible to negotiate on the phone without a cigarette in his hand. Mike says he cannot stand to see anyone smoking after watching his wife die. You all agree that the first thing is to re-arrange the desks so that Harry is next to the window and so that Mike, if he sits with the filing cabinet next to him, cannot see whether Harry is smoking or not. Harry also volunteers to take a walk up and down the corridor now and again, if he is thinking and chain-smoking at the same time.

There are times when the room fills up with smoke and Mike complains but in general you all manage to work together in peace. This is the end of the maze. You may like to discuss similar problems that have occurred in your office or workplace, and talk over how successfully you dealt with them.
